Epson WF-C5790 First Page Out vs Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN - 4 Page Print Job

Epson WF-C5790 First Page Out vs Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN - 4 Page Print Job

Posted by BK on 22nd Jan 2021

The Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN colour LED laser printer and the  Epson WF-C5790 colour business inkjet printer are two popular multifunction printer choices for small workgroups. Both offer fast print speeds, multiple functions, security features, and full colour, but which one is best for you?

Epson WorkForce Pro WF-5790

The Epson WF-C5790 multifunction colour business inkjet printer features PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology, resulting in the perfect blend of speed, precision, quality, and reliability. The Epson WF-C5790 supports PCL and PostScript and is open-platform ready. As an all-in-one multifunction printer, it prints, scans, copies, and faxes. With USB, Ethernet, wireless, and remote connectivity, you can print to the Epson WF-C5790 from your desktop, laptop, or mobile device — whether in the same room or miles away.

The Epson WF-C5790 has a print resolution of up to 4800 dpi, resulting in professional quality prints. It uses Epson DuraBrite Ultra pigment inks which dry instantly and offer outstanding longevity and fade resistance. The Epson WF-C5790 is ideal for workgroups that print up to 2,500 pages per month. Because the Epson WF-C5790 is based on Epson PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology, it is completely heat-free. This results in lower energy costs and a fast first page out time.

This printer uses Epson Replaceable Ink Pack System ink packs with page yields of up to 10,000 ISO pages, bringing the cost of ink down dramatically. The standard  Epson WF-C5790 ($399.95 CAD) comes with a starter set of ink packs whereas the “Supertank” version ($999 CAD) includes two years’ worth of ink in the box (the same starter packs along with 3 T902XXL packs (black) and 3 of each color T902XL packs).

Offering a print speed of 24 ISO pages per minute and a fast first page out time, the Epson WF-C5790 business inkjet is nearly as fast as the Xerox laser printer but without the energy demands of laser technology.

Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN

The Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN retails for $699 CAD in Canada. It is a colour LED laser multifunction printer that prints, scans, copies, faxes, and emails. Like the Epson WF-C5790, the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN supports PCL and PostScript and offers network and remote printing.

The Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN has a print resolution of 2400 dpi and is a good choice for teams of 2 to 7 people. It uses black, cyan, magenta, and yellow toner cartridges with a page yield ranging from 1,000 ISO pages (standard colour) to 5,500 ISO pages (high capacity black).

With a print speed of 30 ISO pages per minute, the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN is technically faster than the Epson WF-C5790 at 24 pages per minute. However, because it is a laser printer, the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN does need to warm up before printing can begin. Its warmup time from power save mode is 27 seconds, but its first page out time can be as fast as 8.7 seconds (colour) or 7.4 seconds (black). In contrast, the Epson WF-C5790 does not need to warm up at all and begins printing immediately.

In the video below, you can see how the Epson WF-C5790 is actually faster than the Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DN when printing the same 4-page document side by side.
