Primera LX4000 Dye Ink Cartridges
The Primera LX4000 uses the same ink cartridges as the Primera LX3000. If you’re looking for reliable, cost-effective inks, be sure to check out our Primera LX3000 ink tanks. These dye ink cartridges offer bright, vibrant colors and ensure that your labels look stunning every time you print.
What is the Difference Between Dye and Pigment Inks?
The Primera LX4000 can be configured to use either dye or pigment inks, depending on the print head you install. Dye inks are paired with the dye print head, while pigment inks are paired with the pigment print head. Dye inks are ideal for producing glossy retail product labels with crisp, vivid colors on high-gloss paper or synthetic glossy substrates like polypropylene and polyester. In contrast, pigment inks are typically used for applications requiring GHS BS5609 compliance, such as chemical labels on matte materials. If you need both capabilities, you can change from dye to pigment or vice versa by swapping the print head and ink tanks.
What Type of Labels Can I Print with the Primera LX4000 Dye Inkjet Printer?
The LX4000 uses label rolls with a 3-inch core and a maximum 6-inch roll diameter. In fact, the LX4000 uses the same label rolls as the LX900, LX910, and LX3000. With dye ink installed, you can print on a wide range of materials including matte paper, high-gloss paper, matte polypropylene, glossy polypropylene, glossy polyester, clear labels, and both matte and glossy tags. Please note that dye inks cannot be used for GHS BS5609 chemical labels.

What is the Difference Between the Primera LX3000 and LX4000 Color Label Printer?
The only difference between these two printers is the introduction of clear ink tanks on the LX4000. In the older LX3000, you could not see the ink inside the tank. Now with the LX4000, you have a ClearView ink tank system that lets you see exactly how much ink remains as you print your labels over time.
What is the Difference Between the Primera LX910 and the LX4000 Color Label Printer?
While the Primera LX910 uses a single tri-color ink cartridge containing cyan, magenta, and yellow ink, the Primera LX4000 has separate ink tanks for cyan, magenta, and yellow. This allows for more efficient ink usage and lower cost per label when one color runs out.
